Wright Synthesis (1988), (12), 950-952) (4.3g) in glacial acetic acid (20ml) and concentrated sulphuric acid (4ml) at 1000C was added concentrated nitric acid (1.57ml) and glacial acetic acid (1 ml). After forty five minutes, the mixture was allowed to cool and dissolved in dichloromethane (250ml). The organic layer was washed with water (250ml), 1 M ammonium hydroxide (250ml) and water (250ml) and then dried (MgSO4) and evaporated. The solid was dissolved in dichloromethane and applied to a column and the column eluted to afford the title compound as a yellow solid (3.4g).
