Clenbuterol hydrochloride in pork was determined with high fluorescent derivatives generated from fluorescamine and clenbuterol hydrochloride. Experiments showed that the maximum excitation wavelength and maximum emission wavelength of the strong fluorescent material produced by fluorescence amine and clenbuterol reaction were 500 nm and 490 nm, resp. The optimum derivative test conditions were determined by L9 (34) orthogonal experiments as follows: derivative temperature 37°C, time 40 min, and fluorescamine (1 μg/mL) addition 0.3 mL. The fluorescence signal was in good linear relation with clenbuterol hydrochloride concentration, and the linear equation was y=82492x+957.96 and the correlation coefficient was 0.9933. The method could be used in clenbuterol detection in pork.
