SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing a nitrile compound using a compound having a hydroxymethylene group as a raw material. The nitrile compound is obtained by mixing and reacting an aliphatic compound or an aromatic compound having a hydroxymethylene group with a N-nitrosyl compound, an oxidant, an iodinating agent and ammonia water.
